Pickleball is now open at Reed's Crossing
If you’ve recently taken a stroll around Reed’s Crossing, you might have heard the quick, energetic pop of a pickleball game. That’s right—we have a new neighborhood hangout spot, bringing folks of all ages together for a little friendly competition.
The rules take about five minutes to learn, the games are fast, and the atmosphere is naturally social. So whether you’re a seasoned athlete or haven’t held a paddle in years, it’s almost impossible to play a round without walking away smiling… and maybe making a few new friends.

Designing Reed’s around what you love
When our residents speak, we listen. And one thing that kept showing up in resident feedback was more ways to play. So, we made a plan to bring that idea to life.
Located near the Model Home Village, the new pickleball courts are designed for residents and their guests, offering even more chances to get outside, move a little, and meet your neighbors. Now, instead of packing up the car to find an open net, Reed’s Crossing residents have courts right in their backyard, with smooth surfaces, permanent lines, and sturdy nets.
When we shared the news on Instagram, people were beyond excited. As resident @minhthu.nguyen89 said, "Best news ever!!!! Thanks for hearing us, and making it happen!! 🙌👏😍"

A Northwest original comes home
While it may feel like pickleball grew popular overnight, the sport has been thriving in our neck of the woods for a while. The game was dreamed up right here in the Pacific Northwest back in 1965, when a few dads put together a makeshift game to entertain their kids over the summer.
Fast forward to today, and pickleball has become a local staple. Oregonians are enthusiastic about the sport, and if you’ve ever tried hunting down an open public court on a beautiful weekend, you might know how packed they can get. So having a dedicated court close to home makes a world of difference.

Looking for a post-match refuel? We got you.
One of the best perks of the new courts is how well they're integrated into the rest of the community. With the neighborhood’s interconnected network of paved paths, you can stroll or bike over for a match and easily turn a couple of sets into an afternoon out.
Once you’ve wrapped up your game, Town Center is just a short walk away with plenty of options to treat yourself. Cool down with a refreshing smoothie from Jamba, grab a Mediterranean wrap at Spitz, or indulge in a well-earned scoop at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. If you’d rather recover at home, you can swing by Market of Choice and pick up some electrolyte-rich coconut water, a fresh salad from the deli counter, or a locally made snack for the walk home.
So what are you waiting for? Grab a paddle, invite your neighbor, and we’ll see you on the courts!
