The Simple Comfort of Home
When the world around us feels overwhelming, home has always been our safe place. A place where the people we love show up for us, and we for them. But now, as home becomes our office, school, gym–well, pretty much everything–the intrinsic comfort of that word has never felt more meaningful.
During this pandemic, many of us find ourselves working from home, and most of us will be required to shelter in place for a little longer. Those with children are adapting to remote learning and home schooling, while some of us are coping with being physically alone. We are all having to learn, adjust and find new ways to modify our daily lives during this unique and unprecedented time.
But being at home can actually be an opportunity. An opportunity to really appreciate each other’s company, and to appreciate the simple things in life: cooking and eating homemade meals, watching a movie, playing a board game together, taking a walk. It’s also an opportunity to tend to your own self-care and well-being— while some may still be working, on the weekend you can catch up on your sleep, meditate, journal, and read —creating your own personal staycation.
Someday soon, we’ll turn a corner. And the long stretch of days at home won’t be remembered for the pileup of dirty dishes. Or how often our kids watched Peppa Pig so we could e-meet with our bosses. More likely, they’ll be remembered for simple rituals like Saturday morning pancakes (because...no soccer practice and dance recitals) or game nights with your friends over Zoom. But for now, we’re grateful to help you navigate this challenging time. We’re in this together and we’re here if you need us. <3
